A mysterious Chinese company's lawsuit against Apple for monopoly will be heard in the SPC
Three days ago, Bloomberg reported that the Beijing Intellectual Property Court had accepted a lawsuit filed by a Chinese developer Beijing Bodyreader Technology Ltd against Apple's App Store monopoly.
Bodyreader, which developed a children’s posture app, is seeking US$420,000 in damages after Apple removed the app in 2020 for “dishonest” behavior.
The lawsuit also challenges Apple’s monopolistic practices and its 30% fee on app purchases.
On the evening of November 15, 2024, the Supreme People's Court (SPC) publicly announced another case of Apple abusing its dominant position.
The plaintiff is a mysterious company, currently known only as Shanghai Yuancellular Network Technology Co., Ltd (SYNT). This is a small company with a registered capital of only 100000 yuan (US$13,797), established in 2020.
This is the fifth patent or antitrust case related to Apple that the SPC has heard in the past two months.
