OPPO joins Avanci 5G

On July 31, 2024, PRIP Research learned from the official website of Avanci that Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO has become the 69th licensor of Avanci's 5G patent pool.

OPPO has become the last entity to join the Avanci 5G patent pool among the top ten SEP ownership.

In fact, OPPO joined the Avanci 4G patent pool as early as March 2020. However, since the licensing dispute with Nokia began in mid-2021, OPPO has not joined the Avanci 5G patent pool due to the pricing of 5G licensing fees involved in the dispute between the two parties.

Before that, IP Fray reported Toyota acquired dozens of 5G SEPs from OPPO, an interesting question is whether Toyota will join the Avanci 5G patent pool as a licensee?
