OPPO settles licensing dispute with ZTE
On August 7, 2024, PRIP Research learned that a two-year patent licensing dispute between ZTE and OPPO has recently been settled.
PRIP attempted to contact ZTE and OPPO, no comment on this matter.
However, a recent patent transaction between two companies seems to indirectly confirm this fact. It assumes that the deal was part of the settlement.
On July 31, 2024, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) released transaction records of ZTE transferring three patents to OPPO.
In 2022, when the patent licensing negotiations between ZTE and OPPO broke down, ZTE filed an infringement lawsuit against OPPO with the Xi'an Intermediate People's Court.
OPPO is the third mobile phone company sued by ZTE in China, the first two being Tinno Mobile and vivo.
On March 5, 2024, Huawei and ZTE announced simultaneously that they had reached a global patent cross licensing agreement with vivo.
